Upon the request from Mr. Matt Bolen of EDGE ARCHITECTS, FPInnnovations performed the following tasks for the vibration performance evaluation of a mass timber stressed-skin panel floor prototype in Element 5 Ripon factory on February 06-07, 2020:
(a) Vibration testing on the floor prototype with two edges free to determine the floor bending stiffness in major and minor strength directions according to the method developed by Zhou et al. (2018). The data may be used by the client to verify the design assumptions for the floor bending stiffness estimation.
(b) Vibration testing on the floor prototype to measure the floor fundamental natural frequency, the modal damping ratio and the floor deflections under 1 kN point load action according to ISO 18324 (ISO 2016). The data may be used by the client to verify the floor design assumptions.
(c) Subjective evalution of the floor vibration performance by the floor designers and the Element5 staff according to ISO.TR 21136.
