Summary
As wood is the only renewable material available in volume, is it relevant to reduce the quantity and optimize structural systems from a carbon point of view? The solid wood construction system does not consider limits to the production of the resource and the amount of wood installed is advantageously seen as a large carbon sequestration, but would it be advantageous to minimize the use of wood? How to consider in a life cycle approach the organic nature thus non-permanence of this sequestration? This project will adopt a macro approach to the entire building sector to develop different scenarios of the likely and desirable contribution of the wood industry to the challenges of decarbonizing the building sector.
