Summary
Cross-laminated timber (CLT) is a promising wood-based structural component and has potential to provide cost-effective building solution for residential, commercial and institutional buildings as well as large industrial facilities. Market acceptance of CLT requires that it meets the applicable building code requirements. CLT elements are used in building systems in similar manner to concrete slabs and solid wall elements, as well as to those from heavy timber construction, by avoiding concealed spaces due to the use of massive timber elements, thus reducing the risk of fire spread beyond its point of origin. Moreover, CLT construction typically uses CLT panels for floor and loadbearing walls, will allow fire-rated compartmentalization, again reducing the risk of fire spread beyond it spoint of origin. ...

Summary
The charring behavior of timber structural elements, such as the charring rate of timber elements and delamination of glue-laminated timber, affects the structural stability of timber buildings. The charring rate of timber elements varies depending on the severity of fire exposure. However, charring rates have been ordinarily investigated in...

Summary
The combustibility of timber is one of the factors that restrict the use of structural elements of wood in buildings in Brazil. This paper describes an experimental investigation of the charring rate of wood species. The charring rate is one of the key parameters for the design of load bearing timber structures. The purpose of this study is...

Summary
This project will optimize the strength, stiffness, vibration characteristics, acoustic qualities and fire resistance of cross-laminated floor systems utilizing a composite concrete and cross-laminated timber product. This project includes development, testing and optimization of an economical shear connector (to connect the CLT panel to the concrete slab) that will be compared with existing screw and steel plate solutions. The resulting prototype floor system will be tested at full scale.
